Forgotten Fighter
The Bell P-39 Aircobra, produced early in the war, was short-ranged and inadequate at high altitudes.
The Army tried using them in the Pacific, then gave them all to the Russians.  Shown here is Alexander Pokryshkin,
who flew the P-39 to score 48 of his 59 total victories.  He is busy clobbering a German Ju-88.
